Happy Thanksgiving from Dodge

Happy Thanksgiving from Dodge.

Thanksgiving Day weekend makes the official kick-off for the holiday season. It’s also when we take a deep breath from our busy careers and day-to-day responsibilities to go give thanks and visit family and friends.
This weekend is also one the busiest times of the year for holiday travel and let’s face it; it can be very stressful regardless of your destination. Long security lines and flight delays are a real drag but if your mode of transportation is a car, minivan or SUV, count your blessings. Our family-friendly vehicles will make your annual Thanksgiving pilgrimage and road trip stress-free.
Some of you might just stay home this weekend and watch the parade, entertain guests, take in some football and devour a big turkey with all the trimmings. Hopefully you won’t pass out on the couch before It’s a Wonderful Life comes on, but if you do, it’ll be okay as we’re sure it’ll be on more than once this weekend.
So, tell us how you’ll be spending your Thanksgiving weekend along with any leftovers you’d like to share with us.

Dodge Sprinter

The big news for the 2009 Dodge Sprinter passenger van is that the 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 is now the only available engine -- last year's optional 3.5-liter gasoline V6 is no longer offered. Otherwise, the Sprinter sees only minor changes for 2009.
Introduction. Time moves slowly in the passenger-van segment. There are only three players in this game, and two of them -- the Chevy Express/GMC Savana twins and the Ford Econoline -- were last redesigned during the Clinton years. While these aging behemoths have been updated on an ongoing basis, it's hard to disguise underpinnings that date to 1992 (the Ford) or 1996 (the GM duo). The Dodge Sprinter, on the other hand, is a relative neophyte, having received a full redesign for the 2007 model year.
If the Sprinter were aimed squarely at the American stalwarts, then its up-to-date design would make it a slam-dunk choice. Unfortunately, it's not that simple. The Dodge is actually a rebranded Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, which is designed for European needs. Accordingly, the Sprinter is far more maneuverable and fuel-efficient than its American rivals -- but its turbodiesel V6 lacks the grunt of a good old-fashioned V8 or V10, and its narrow-looking body may seem odd to American drivers.
The front of your ride is the “face.” It is not only what people notice first, but it is also the area that is constantly exposed to potential dangers. Maintaining its health is needless to say, crucial. A Dodge Sprinter Grill Guard is an important investment. With a Dodge Grill Guard, your front-end is defended against rocks, gravel, sticks, and debris while also presenting a stylishly custom look. Our selection of Dodge Sprinter Grille Guards is chock full of Stainless Steel options for you to take a swing at, all coming from the most reputable names in the land like Westin® and Romik®. All Dodge Sprinter Grille Guards come with user-friendly instructions and mounting hardware for a DIY installation. 2011 Dodge Challenger

Two of the auto industry’s most-watched third-party quality studies were released recently, with both taking decidedly different approaches to measuring customer satisfaction: The J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study (IQS) puts its emphasis on the absolute number of problems reported by vehicle owners, while the Strategic Vision Total Quality Index (TQI) uses a more holistic strategy that seeks to determine how much owners “love” their vehicles. But here’s something the two do have in common: In each of them, the Dodge Challenger was the highest-rated vehicle in its class, beating out both the Ford Mustang and the Chevrolet Camaro.
That’s not likely to change much in the future, either, since the Challenger was the recent beneficiary of a host of customer-satisfying upgrades for 2011, receiving both a new, comprehensively updated second-generation rear-wheel-drive architecture for world-class ride and handling, as well as a revised, race-inspired cabin that still offers the most room in its class. Today’s Challenger lineup now features three performance-oriented alternatives:
Challenger SE, with an all-new Pentastar V6 that is both more powerful and more fuel-efficient than last year’s; the high-tech engine makes 305 hp (55 more than the Challenger’s previous V6) while achieving EPA ratings of up to 27 mpg highway (2 more than last year).
Challenger R/T, offering enhanced HEMI-supplied power courtesy of a 5.7-liter V8 that can deliver 376 horses and race from 0-60 in less than six seconds.
Challenger SRT8 392, boasting a massive 392-cubic-inch HEMI V8 that delivers a thundering 470 hp and 470 lb.-ft. of torque, mated to either a standard Tremec six-speed manual transmission or Dodge’s advanced five-speed automatic with Auto Stick manual-shifting capabilities; with the former combination, the Challenger SRT8 392 can rip off 0-60 runs in the high four-second range.
Dodge Challenger Accessories and parts only push the envelope further and that is always the point at CARiD.com. Our selection of Dodge Challenger accessories and parts covers every area of your car: grilles, spoilers, dash kits, floor mats, Dodge navigation and chrome trim are all available in the highest quality on the market at the best prices you will find anywhere. Dodge Caliber News

Chrysler had a real hit on its hands (at least initially) when it launched the Neon in 1994. And though it was plagued by early quality issues, it actually had a waiting list to buy one when it first came out. The Caliber, however, has been less of a market success.
In replacing the ubiquitous Neon in 2006, Dodge went with a pseudo-SUV shape to create a more rugged aesthetic on the Caliber. Quality, unfortunately, wasn't much better, and the slushy CVT and interior were widely panned – attributes which, as we found in our recent test drive, were enough to keep the Caliber from being a real success.
Now, five years after its launch, a new report from Allpar says that the Pentastar's econo-ute won't see another new year. The model, according to reports, will be phased out by the end of November. Its replacement is widely expected to come from Fiat underpinnings, but whether that will come in time for the Caliber's discontinuation – or for that matter, beat its nagging deficiencies – remains to be seen.

Classic Hollywood Car

You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.
Stepping up the protection in your vehicle doesn’t have to be hassle. At CARiD.com, we make it simple! Dodge is known for churning out brute-tough American machines that deliver on all the traits: performance…efficiency…style… the list goes on. After all, there’s a reason why this brand is so revered, right? Dodge Floor Mats support the tradition. The #1 cause for most interior problems has to do with proper maintenance. Spills, moisture, dirt, mud, ice, and rocks all play a key role in “messing” up your car. Thanks to WeatherTech®, Lloyd Mats®, and Nifty®, our line of Dodge Mats will help you breathe easier. From All-Weather Dodge Rubber Mats to ultra-soft Luxe™ Mats, we’ve got everything you need to keep your vehicle’s floor fresh and clean.

New Dodge Grand Caravan

When I first heard that Chrysler had revised nearly every one of its models for the 2011 model year, I cynically assumed the changes couldn’t possibility make much of a difference. After all, how much could they have done with little money and even less time—and with Detroit’s tendency to make minor changes and expect them to have a major impact? Then I drove the new
Dodge Grand Caravan, and was amazed at how much its ride and handling had improved. For those seeking something smaller, or who simply refuse to buy a minivan, Dodge offers the Journey crossover. Underwhelming before, does it now similarly surprise?
The front buckets continue the Journey’s newly premium character, with ample padding and enough contour that you’re coddled within the seat rather than sitting upon it. The driver gets an effective four-way power lumbar adjustment—but oddly a manual recliner. The view forward is very car-like, similar to the Chevrolet Equinox (but with much less of a sense of tunnel vision) and not nearly as high and upright as in the Kia Sorento or Toyota Highlander. The view rearward: not so good thanks to a small rear window and tall headrests that fill most of it.
Unfortunately, nothing could be done about the tight rear seats – short of reworking the metal. The second row—which continues to lack contour but is comfortably high off the floor—must be nearly all of the way back to provide enough legroom for adults, but if this is done there’s almost no legroom in the optional third row.
CARiD.com is devoted to providing a complete assortment of Dodge accessories and parts. Dodge Magnum History.

The Dodge Magnum model was introduced in 1978 and produced for only a short time, lasting until 1979. It was sold in the United States and in Canada as a rebadged Chrysler Cordoba. It was a replacement for the Charger SE in Dodge's lineup and available in two bodystyles, the 'XE' and the 'GT'.
One of the driving forces for producing this car, was for the NASCAR series. The Magnum was more aerodynamic than the Charger. The road-going versions featured four rectangular headlights, opera windows, and an optional T-Bar or power sunroof. Power steering, brakes and seats were offered as standard equipment. Mounted under the hood was a 318 cubic-inch V8 engine. Optional engines were available, including the two and four-barrel carbureted 360 and 400 V8s. The 400 was offered for only a single year, being dropped from the option list in 1970 as Chrysler ceased production of the big-block V8s at the close of 1978.
The GT version was packed with performance, powered by a 'E85' police interceptor engine. The suspension was improved, a special axle adapted, and 'GT' badging placed throughout the vehicle.
The technology of the vehicle was advanced for its era. It had an onboard spark control computer, electronic ignition, and a lockup torque converter.
The Magnum name persisted for only a short time, being replaced by the Mirada after just a few years of production. The Mirada was a smaller car that had also been a rebadge of the Chrysler Cordoba.
The name 'Magnum' would lay dormant for many years, making a re-appearance in 2005 as part of Dodge's full-size vehicle in their model lineup.

Dodge Durango News.

We’ll cut to the chase: This
2011 Dodge Durango is the brand’s best vehicle not called Charger. After a two-year hiatus, the Durango is back, with a unibody design based on the same underpinnings that spawned Jeep’s stellar 2011 Grand Cherokee, which came in tops in its first comparo. As handsome as the last one was brash, the 2011 Durango offers rear- or all-wheel drive, standard seven-butt seating (the Jeep is shorter and seats only five), a swank soft-touch and chrome-trimmed interior, and assembly quality that rivals anything else in the segment. Although the new Durango is heavy—our rear-drive V-6 model weighed in at 4955 pounds, and Chrysler quotes 5200 to 5350 pounds for trucks with the Hemi V-8—Dodge is nonetheless positioning it as a performance-oriented alternative to the current segment offerings, a claim backed up by the retention of rear-wheel drive and the resurrection of the Durango R/T, which nabs a standard Hemi V-8, unique exhaust tuning, sportier styling, and a lowered, tuned suspension.
If you want your ride to flash with a unique, fiery touch, Dodge Custom Tail Lights are an easy answer. Dodge Custom Taillights present a simple and safe installation – just “plug & play!” And since all of our Dodge Custom Taillights come from premier manufacturers, you can count on ultra-durable components as well as a precise OEM fit that goes in smoothly. Dodge LED Taillights offer a sharper, safer brand of radiance at night and in inclement weather. Plus, the exotic appeal speaks for itself! Upgrade your OEM tail lamps the right way: it’s a message everyone receives...
Dodge LED Tail Lights never slow down as an aftermarket commodity. The reasons are simple. They are brighter, more efficient, and infinitely more stylish than OEM tail lights. Dodge LED Taillights produce a stronger glow which cuts through fog and darkness with ease. The effect is startling. Plus, Dodge Euro Taillights emit vibrant color no one can ignore! This is an improvement that adds a distinctive custom feel to any vehicle. Simply put, Dodge Euro Tail Lights produce RESULTS. Dodge Durango Accessories.

After a short leave of absence, Dodge has revived its once-popular Durango nameplate for a new three-row range-topping SUV based on the same Mercedes-Benz-derived platform as the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The new Dodge Durango marks the first step in Dodge's "product onslaught for 2011," and shares virtually nothing with the last-generation Durango that was discontinued in 2009. Like the Jeep, two engines are on offer, including Chrysler's new Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 that produces 290 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The V6 will return 16 city, and 23 highway miles per gallon in two-wheel drive (rear), and loses one mpg to 22 highway if equipped with four-wheel drive.
Job 1: 2011 Dodge DurangoImage by Chrysler-Group via FlickrThe second engine is the well-known 5.7-liter Hemi V8 - good for 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. The Hemi suffers a sizable hit on fuel economy, coming in at 14 city, 20 highway in 2WD, and 13 city, 20 highway in 4WD.
Both engines feature variable valve timing and are mated to five-speed automatic transmissions.

Dodge says that Hemi-outfitted Durangos are capable of towing up to 7,400 lbs., while V6 models are rated at a still reasonable 6,200 lbs.
Outside, the Durango shares its Ram-inspired front fascia with the automaker’s pickups and, to a a certain extent, the previous Durango. Its tail, clearly inspired by the Jeep Grand Cherokee, is totally different than the outgoing model’s.
Inside, the Durango’s look is derivative of other recent Chrysler products, namely the new Grand Cherokee. It gets some of Chrysler’s latest switchgear and it benefits from all of the automaker’s top safety features, including blind spot monitoring, rear cross path detection, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control and active head restraints.
Job 1: 2011 Dodge DurangoImage by Chrysler-Group via Flickr
Dodge's previous system of identifying trim levels has been replaced with a new naming scheme that involves four levels, starting with Express, then R/T, Crew and the range-topping Citadel.
The Express model is obviously the base model, but still features such things as standard fog lamps, automatic halogen headlamps, power external mirrors with defrost (manual foldaway), chrome grille surround, keyless entry, air conditioning, 18-inch wheels and more. Job 1: 2011 Dodge DurangoImage by Chrysler-Group via Flickr
Progressing through the trim levels will add various content, ranging from larger 20-inch wheels to roof racks, but the big shot of the show is the Citadel, which adds niceties such as High Intensity Discharge headlamps (Also on R/T model), unique chrome texture for grille, rain-sensing wipers, 20-inch chrome wheels, Nappa leather seats with Axis II pefrorated Nappa leather inserts, leather-wrapped steering wheel with radio and phone controls, power tilt and telescoping column and more.
Durango uses a fully independent suspension and unibody construction derived from the Mercedes-Benz M-Class SUV. More than just a stretched Jeep Grand Cherokee, the Durango is designed primarily for on-road use.
The Durango squares off against other unibody SUVs and large crossovers like the Chevrolet Traverse, Ford Explorer, GMC Acadia, Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander.
The Dodge Durango offers the heavy-duty strength that truck lovers crave without all of the extra "truck." As a full-size SUV, the Durango is a stylishly dominant machine, racking up points all over with its accommodating, spacious interior and accessible driver-side options. The Durango is a lean, mean reminder of what Dodge is capable of, as this model also has the performance to rock dynamite when traversing off the beaten path. A solid favorite that incorporates its very own style, the Dodge Durango has loyal drivers from coast to coast.

Fashion. Protection. Comfort. Our inventory of Dodge Durango Accessories and parts covers all the bases. We handpick the highest quality Dodge Durango accessories and parts from the world's most experienced manufacturers so that we can showcase them all right here at the lowest prices around. Dodge Charger Grill.

Dodge has dropped the Street and Racing Technology motherlode on the eve of the Chicago Auto Show and first out of the gate is the 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 – what Eminem should've rolled in during the Super Bowl.
As with anything birthed from Chrysler's in-house tuning division, the Charger SRT8 is all about the engine, so the transformation begins with the new 6.4-liter HEMI V8 putting out 465 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque – a boost of some 80 lb-ft over the old 6.1-liter mill. That torquey wave comes on at 2,900 rpm and Dodge claims that with the fitment of its Fuel Saver tech, allowing the engine to run on four cylinders when its not under load, fuel economy will improve, although Dodge isn't saying how much.
Chrysler's W5A580 five-speed automatic transmission backs up the HEMI, and you can select your own gears by either slapping the AutoStick or thumbing the steering wheel-mounted paddle-shifters.
All that adds up to an estimated top speed of 175 mph, a 0-60 mph time in the high fours and a quarter-mile run deep into the 12s.
In addition to the five-spoke, 20-inch forged aluminum and polished wheels, the SRT crew saw fit to equip the SRT8 with an adaptive damping suspension with Auto and Sport settings that process speed, steering angle, brake pressure, throttle application and lateral acceleration. Brakes are sized 14.2-inches up front and 13.8-inches in the rear, with a new front fascia, LED taillamps and four-inch dual exhausts rounding out the exterior mods. And naturally, the interior isn't left out in the cold, with a flat-bottom steering wheel, heavily bolstered seats and a 900-watt, 19-speaker audio system courtesy of Harmon Kardon.
Everyone has noticed a Dodge Charger burning past them at one point or another, and it always gets our attention. It is just one stylishly powerful ride. Updating the front only adds to this mean-machine’s profile, which is why Dodge Charger Grilles have become one of the most popular custom upgrades around. Fashionable yet menacing, a Dodge Charger Grill displays personal style to an area that is all too crucial: the front-end. From mesh masterpieces to straight-up billet icons that sparkle with steely resolve, CARiD.com offers every style Dodge Charger Grill for you to choose from.
Only the most premier quality is what’s going to get it done so that’s exactly what we offer – always. With just a simple installation and a touch of personal style, your Charger has the potential to appear even more dominant than it already does.

Dodge Charger Tail Lights.

Fear not, enthusiasts. Improved looks don’t mean watered-down power. While there is no SRT version for now, the Charger still has an available Hemi V8 power. But for those who don’t wan or need a V8, the base engine is a 3.6-liter V6 that makes 292 horsepower and 260 ft-lbs of torque, an increase of 40-hp and 20 ft-lbs respectively.
For 2011, the new Charger gets a retro influence—particularly in its taillights, which now stretch across the width of the body—as well swoopy styling up front. Another influence, according to Chrysler designers, is the classic “Coke bottle” shape. Thanks mostly to its taillights, the new Charger is a distinctive design., appearing lower and sleeker than the outgoing car.
The previous interior wasn’t terrible, but the new one is an improvement nevertheless, with nicer materials that better befit a full-size sedan that presents itself as the company flagship.
The tough economic climate has been incredibly rough on U.S. auto manufacturers, particularly Chrysler, which has kept fairly mum about its future since partnering with Fiat just over a year ago. Here at the Los Angeles Auto Show, those plans are beginning to be shown.DMPD Dodge ChargerImage by cwwycoff1 via Flickr
The big news for Dodge is the new 2011 Charger. This 4-door sedan has been redone with a focus on retaining its unique character while improving interior quality and driving dynamics.
At first blush, the new Charger seems familiar, but when compared to the previous generation it can be seen that every aspect has changed for the better. Its freshened exterior is heavily influenced by the Chargers of the late 1960s, especially noticeable in the taillamps and side scallops. The new split crosshair grille, however, is in keeping with Dodge's more recent history.

Dodge Magnum Accessories.

Ah, the magic of the interwebs. Chrysler has yet to officially reveal the 2012 Dodge Durango (which could yet be birthed under the name Magnum), but we've come across this rather nonchalant camera phone photo taken by one of the Twitterati.
Judging from the Durango/Magnum spy shots that have come through our hands, the exterior design hasn't changed much during the SUV-turned-crossover's development. If we're honest, the design is a little milquetoast, but we'd rather Chrysler be executing simple designs rather than unsightly messes. Expect the Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 and 5.7-liter Hemi V8 to be under the hood when the SUV hits the road in early 2011.
